The second section of Psalms, known as the Exodus Psalms, remind us that the God who redeemed us is still with us.

Life is a zoo at times, and you think the animals are running wild.

I have been truly amazed at the number of the Psalms where David, under inspiration of the Holy

Spirit, uses animals as a picture of what's going on in the world around him and of what God

is doing. In our last Psalm, Psalm 57, we saw the enemy pictured as a lion.

Now we've come to Psalm 58, and David writes these words,

Do you indeed speak righteousness, O congregation?

Do you judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

Ye in heart, you work wickedness, you weigh the violence of your

hands in the earth. So let's get the context of Psalm 58. He basically says, here's a group of people

going through the religious motions, but their heart is full of sin. Sounds a lot like

Christianity, I'm using that term very broadly in our world today,

where people can go through the motions and say all the right things with their mouths,

but their heart is full of wickedness.

And then he begins in verse number three to describe the wicked.

Listen to his description.

He says, the wicked are estranged from the womb.

They go astray as soon as they be born speaking lies.
