So I'm a neuroscientist and I'm a pretty unusual one because I get access to a very at a typical way to study the brain by opening it and looking directly inside.

I work with patients who undergo brain surgery and during the surgery the doctors try to find

And in order to do that, they open their brain and they stick electrodes deep inside their brain.

To see how the brain functions, they connect those wires to a computer and they keep the patient in bed for two weeks with open brain and wires recording his or her activity, while they try to find out what's the problem's source.
