Welcome to the Feminid Podcast. This is Nancy Wilson. Thanks for joining me today. The topic today is what we do when God says no to our purposes or plans or prayers. How do we respond as faithful Christian women when disappointment or grief

0:22.3

sets in after we have prayed diligently for something, for healing, or for help? The first thing,

0:28.5

the starting point, is to remember who we are and who God is. We are his creatures, not his boss.

0:35.5

We submit our prayers to him, and if he says no, then we must remember

0:40.0

he is the Lord, and we are not. Also, we must learn to counsel ourselves through times of

disappointment. We're not the first ones to whom God has denied what we have asked. Consider our

Lord Jesus in the Garden of Gassimony in Luke 22,

verses 41 and 42. And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and he knelt down and

1:27.4

not my will, but yours be done.

1:30.2

In Matthew 26, 39, it says he went a little farther and fell on his face and prayed, saying,

1:36.3

Oh, my father, if it is possible, let this cut pass from me. Nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.

1:46.5

When we pray, we should remember our Savior and imitate him by surrendering our will to our Father's will in heaven. If it is your will,

1:52.8

if it is possible, may this be done. If we love God, we want His will, not ours. We should not

2:00.4

trust our own will. Jesus, the perfect man,

2:03.5

submitted His will to the fathers. How much more should we? And if God denies our request,

2:09.9

because it is His will to do so, then may we be satisfied that God has hurt us and denied our

2:16.5

request. And yet, he's actually given us our request

2:20.5

because we have asked for His will and not our own. Looking back, how many times have you been
