When did someone flee the cops and get away Scott Free?

I was trespassing in the park after dark with some friends.

Two police officers showed up and flashed their lights, so we ran around a baseball field to get away.

We noticed they were following us, so we all hid under those orange construction barrels you see along the highway.

Minutes felt like hours to a young

teenager running from the long arm of the law. This was early 2000s in a suburb in the United States.

This was a house party in high school, about 30 or 40 kids in the basement drinking and smoking.

Suddenly cops walk down the stairs. Someone just let them

right in. They took underage drinking very seriously. If court, you got a minor in possession

ticket. Fine and court fees were between $300 and $500, so like 30 tickets that night would

net the county quite a bit of cash. In our state, we'd had a lot of kids showing up in hospitals with alcohol poisoning around that time, so maybe they were trying to help?

They tell us to sit tight and nobody go anywhere. Cops walked back upstairs, we were all wasted.

I fornagled a window open and helped my friends and a couple of brave souls up and out.

I got out, run for a fence, and my friends just hopped. A cop grabs me

and hauls me back into the house. He neglected to put me back in the basement, though. It's my

friend's house, so I pretended to belong. I opened the fridge, grabbed a mountain dew, a cop walks in

with a bag of 100 breathalyzer tubes, I meander into the living room by the front door. I wait for the clear,

casually walk out the front door. I make it three steps and a spotlight hits me. A cop yells at me.

I meander back in just by the front door. Spotlight turns off, I wait five seconds,

and fricking bolt out the front door again. Leap off the front porch, sprint through

front yards for four blocks until I'm in a field. I lay flat and call for my friends. Cops

patrol by with a spotlight and can't see me. They go back to their house. A friend picks me up.
