Well, we are continuing in our series of the summer and the Psalms, and I would imagine

some of you are asking, why would you read that song?

They gave you options, right?

You could have gone with Psalm 1 about us being like a tree planted by streams of water.

That would have been nice.

Or Psalm 84 about better as one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere,

or even Psalm 118 about the steadfast love of the Lord that endures forever.

Why on earth, out of 150 Psalms, did you pick the one about raging kings and God laughing as he smashes them?

What is a matter with you?

Well, by way of review, the Psalms, if you don't know, that massive book in the center of your Bible,

the Psalms were a collection of poems, of songs that were collected over hundreds of years.

Some as far back as Moses, around 1,200 BC, up through most of them within the life of David,

around 1,000 BC, and all through the whole history of the nation of Israel.

And this was the songbook of the people of God in the Old Testament.
