In our culture, it's very okay to say, I'll respect him when he deserves respect or I'll honor him when he deserves honor. For me as a wife, like, I want to love you in a way that you feel loved. You feel loved when the house is warm, it's welcoming. You can walk through it. As a husband, when you honor me, and I've told you this, like, there's nothing in this world that I would not give to you. There's nothing I have that is not gladly given to you.

When you respect your husband, you notice him, you regard him, you honor him, you prefer him, and esteem him.

Wherever you are, that's my home. Like, wherever you are, that's where I want to be. And I'm going to feel at home.

Lord has given us a temple. First of all, we can honor him, but we can honor each other by disciplining ourselves to take care of ourselves.

Having a chaotic home. That's a dishonoring thing.

I think you feel honored, right? And you feel respected when I'm like, hey, babe, how is your day at work?

I love you. I'm so glad you're done with it. Now you can look me in the eye and give me all the attention I want.

So. me all these things I want. Selina, it's often said that husbands need respect, wives need love.

In fact, Paul said this, Ephesians 5.

Wives, respect your husbands.

He did say this.

Husbands love your wives.

We're going to read the passage today. But how does disrespect look? Dishonoring.

Dishonoring. Yeah. Disrespect, dishonor. I know they're not interchangeable. I would say, gosh,

what would you say? Disrespect is, what's the difference between the two?

Yeah, well, disrespect, to me, it feels more one-to-one direct to the person.

I'm disrespecting you, whereas right here, whereas I could dishonor you even with you out, with you not in the room.

Right.

Right.

Right.

And so maybe, and you can also disrespect each other outside of being. Right. And you can dishonor each other face to face. So,

dishonoring feels like a more, it's a heart issue. Disrespect is how it plays out in my mind.
