Summary
In this clip from A Commitment to Reality, Jay Richards argues that when a society rejects basic realities—biological, moral, and metaphysical—it begins to unravel in ways that don’t stay theoretical. Dave and Jay talk about what “commitment to reality” actually means, and why denying reality has civilizational consequences.
We are living through one of the most disorienting periods in human history—leaving many to wonder: What is reality? As artificial intelligence accelerates and institutional trust erodes, our shared sense of what is real continues to crumble.
A commitment to reality is a dedication to discerning what is true and developing the discipline to live in alignment with that truth—with reality. This podcast is an apologetic for reality—each episode serving as an intentional act of grounding our existence together as we commit to what is beautiful, good, and true.

| 0:22.0 | We're waiting later to have children. |
| 0:24.0 | So by definition, we're having fewer and fewer children. |
| 0:26.7 | And so we're failing in God's commandment to, and blessing, be fruitful and multiply. |
| 0:32.2 | So that happens. |
| 0:33.2 | I'll give you a perfect example. |
| 0:34.3 | So we are so far into unreality that our culture in its |
| 0:40.9 | commanding heights, our medical societies, literally are still maintaining that there's not an |
| 0:46.6 | intrinsic difference between males and females, right? That what you really are is your gender |
| 0:51.2 | identity and that's purely a psychological state and it's not related to your body, and maybe your gender identity is completely contrary to your actual body. |
| 0:59.3 | Right. Now, the benefit of that lie is that it's so blatant and so obvious that even people that aren't paying attention to realize, well, wait, wait. |
| 1:06.5 | So we're going to sterilize kids and we're going to boys and girls sports. This is crazy. |
| 1:10.9 | Right. |
| 1:13.7 | So our culture is in the process of waking up from that. |
| 1:17.0 | But it's just one example of a kind of a denial of reality. |
| 1:24.2 | In this case, the intrinsic complementary nature of the difference between male and female. And so I really do think that the farther you get away from reality in your |
| 1:28.5 | own thinking and in your kind of cultural beliefs, you cease to exist in the realm of reality. |
