The daytime shift left behind noise movement,

and people yelling over machinery that never fully stopped running. But once midnight passed

and production slowed, the place changed completely.

Entire sections of the building went dark.

Conveyor systems powered down one by one.

Massive industrial rooms emptied until only isolated pockets of activity remained beneath fluorescent lights.

That was when the building started feeling too large.

The facility set on the edge of an industrial park outside town, a sprawling maze of production floors, storage rooms, shipping bays,

maintenance corridors, and administrative offices added piece by piece over nearly 50 years.

Some sections looked modern, upgraded with digital monitoring systems and motion-activated

lighting. Other parts still carried faded floor markings from departments that no longer existed.

At night, all of it blended together. Long hallways disappeared into darkness. Empty loading bays

echoed with every footstep.

Motion sensors activated lights room by room as employees moved through the building,

then shut them off again, seconds after they passed.
