Summary
What was supposed to be a temporary fresh start quickly turned into ten years inside a house that never felt right. From the first day she stepped through the front door, the place carried an oppressive heaviness she couldn’t explain. Soon, strange things started happening—objects disappearing and reappearing, unexplained infestations, and an overwhelming feeling that something unseen was always nearby.
But the real terror waited in the basement.
Late one freezing night, while feeding the wood burner alone, she looked into the glowing firebox and saw something impossible taking shape inside the embers. What first looked like a burned log slowly became something far more disturbing… something that appeared to breathe.
And when it finally looked back at her, she ran. Years later, she still wonders exactly what was living inside that house.
