Summary
They rented the cabin for the isolation. After months of stress and noise, a few quiet days beside a remote mountain lake sounded perfect.
Then the sounds started after dark.
Music drifted faintly through the trees while voices carried somewhere beyond the lake. Sometimes the sounds felt distant. Other times, it seemed like people were standing just outside the cabin itself. Footsteps crossed the gravel around the porch. Car doors slammed nearby. Quiet conversations moved through the woods.
But every time they looked outside, the forest was completely empty The next day, they discovered the remains of an abandoned campground hidden deeper along the lake—one that had supposedly been closed for years.
