Summary
Arthur never sounded frightened when he talked about the impossible. He spoke about strange experiences the same way he talked about weather, work, or repairing a fence—plainly, without embellishment, as though none of it required belief to be real.
Most people remembered the story from the war: the unseen voice that ordered him out of a trench moments before it took a direct hit. But that wasn’t the only thing that followed him through life.
There were other moments too. A figure standing on the moor where no one should have been. Places he refused to walk through without explaining why. An instinct for danger that appeared too often to dismiss as coincidence.
Arthur never tried to connect the stories or explain what they meant. But years later, the people who knew him best began to wonder if something had been guiding him his entire life… or simply waiting at the edges of it.
