For some reason in the Christian faith, we have assumed that our bodies and our souls are kind of disconnected things. You have like your spiritual side and then you have your physical side and those things are separate. And that's not what the Bible teaches and it's not even how like heaven's going to work. Like you'll have a body in heaven. You won't be some soul floating around in outer space. You'll have a body. And that's mysterious, and we don't know

0:21.2

exactly what that will look like, but we do know that we're going to have bodies. And so it's not

0:25.1

crazy to think that what's going on in your soul internally can actually impact your physical

0:29.4

body. I feel like the last year has been a year of huge healing for me on a soul level, but I have

0:36.3

noticed, and it's been crazy, of how much physically different

0:39.3

I feel. Like, if you just watch my sleep score over the last year and a half, it is significantly

improved. And I'm sure there's all kinds of factors for why that's true. But there is significant

research that shows from a completely secular perspective that what's happening in your soul is impacting

your physical well-being, your headaches, your sleep, your immune system, your gut health,

like somehow mysteriously, what you're experiencing on a psychological, emotional level

1:08.8

is impacting you at a cellular level.

1:12.2

When you are under constant stress or suppressed emotions, your body is in fight or flight

1:17.5

mode, which is awesome for very short term. If you're being chased by a bear, you want to be

1:21.6

in fight or flight mode. But to live that way because you're not expressing your emotions

1:26.6

is super dangerous. and they've linked that

1:29.2

scientifically. When your body stays in fight or flight mode, it releases cortisol, adrenaline,

1:36.3

norepinephrine, and this leads to fatigue and burnout, weight gain, high blood pressure,

1:42.5

disrupted sleep, brain fog, irritability, your muscles

1:46.4

literally tighten. You can feel your chest tightening, your jaw tightening, your shoulders

1:51.1

clenched, and your immune system weakens, which is just crazy. You have lower immune function,

1:56.9

higher inflammation markers, slower wound healing. Like imagine that. You're not addressing your

2:02.6

soul wounds and as a result, your actual wounds are not healing. And so you might be saying to yourself,
