Think about the last time you bought a motorcycle jacket. You probably shopped around for a jacket you thought you would look good in and that suited your riding style.

And then very likely you put a fair bit of thought and research into that purchase.

You may have checked online for reviews,

maybe the opinions of some riders that wear the jacket already,

you considered their experiences,

and then you plunk down your hard-earned money

and walked away with your new jacket.

What you expected from that jacket, the most important feature, what we all expect from the

jacket, is protection.

Protection if you came off the bike and slid down the road, as well as some kind of protection from the elements, keeping you warm, dry, maybe cool.

The jacket is all about protection. Sure, it has to look good, but really ultimately it's protection. Sure it has to look good but really ultimately it's

protection. So when you've yanked all those retail tags off and you tried your new

jacket on to see how it looks and feels, did you consider what you're supposed to wear under the jacket?

We have so many choices as to what to wear underneath.

It could be a long sleeve shirt, a short sleeve shirt, a t shirt,, it could be a thick material, it could be numerous layers,

a shirt and a sweater, because it would make sense that more layers would add more protection, then shouldn't those layers have an effect,

or at least an overall effect on the protection you get from the jacket.

And when the manufacturer made that jacket, the one that you put on, to protect you,

what did they imagine you were going to be wearing underneath that jacket?

Did they picture you in a t-shirt?

Did they picture you with two layers?

Did they picture you wearing some sort of heavy duty work shirt underneath?
