Summary
It has been 50 years since the Attica Prison Rebellion, one of the most famous and bloodiest prison uprisings in America's history. New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller, who refused to meet with the prisoners during the rebellion, stated that the prisoners "carried out the cold-blooded killings they had threatened from the outset." The deaths of only one of the officers and three of the inmates were actually attributed to the prisoners. New York Times writer Fred Ferretti said the rebellion concluded in "mass deaths that four days of taut negotiations had sought to avert."

| 1:30.1 | They had a list of demands, they took 42 staff hostage, they basically took over the prison. |
| 1:38.2 | The authorities, there was four days negotiations between the prisoners and the officials, |
| 1:44.6 | and the state, the governor got involved the whole thing. |
| 1:47.5 | And the authorities agreed to 28 of their demands. |
| 1:51.3 | I mean, there were some very, very legitimate complaints that they had. |
| 1:57.2 | And then Nelson Rockefeller, the governor of New York, ordered the state, |
