| 0:00.0 | Today's 10-minute walk is helping you keep the fitness promise you made to yourself, and |
| 0:06.8 | we'll add another link to your growing fitness chain. Today, I'm walking along a route that I've |
| 0:15.7 | never walked before. So one of the advantages of where we live, in fact, it was one of the appeals of |
| 0:23.5 | moving here is that this is a very walkable community, a very walkable area. It was actually |
| 0:29.9 | designed with that in mind. So I can head out my front door and go in a multitude of different directions, and I could probably, if I wanted to, I could probably create a different walking route every single day. |
| 0:48.5 | Now, some of those differences would be more in the nuance. |
| 0:52.5 | You know, yesterday I turned left, so today I'm going to turn right. |
| 0:55.0 | But I've seen this street, maybe not in conjunction with a walk, |
| 1:00.0 | and from this particular direction, but I could nuance my way to a completely different walk every single day. |
| 1:09.0 | But today is a little bit more than that. |
| 1:12.8 | I'm actually exploring an area that I have never walked on before, |
| 1:21.1 | either recording an episode of walking as fitness or simply just out for a walk. And it's a field. I think this field is an old |
| 1:32.3 | landfill that they don't use anymore. Not entirely sure about that, but I saw some signs. |
| 1:38.6 | There's a field to my right, to my left is a stream. And it looks like they've done some work on this stream, maybe |
| 1:47.3 | clearing it out a bit. One of the things that we have to be concerned about living here in |
| 1:55.8 | Myrtle Beach are tropical storms. And with the tropical storms, the hurricanes come heavy rain. Now, we're not |
| 2:02.6 | in hurricane season, so it's certainly not an issue now. But these streams and these lakes that I talk about |
| 2:11.2 | are really to help with rain runoff when these big storms with a lot of moisture come through the area. |
| 2:20.2 | And I wonder if this stream, which is connected to a lake, which is connected to another lake, which is behind our community, |
| 2:27.1 | I wonder if they're clearing it out, widening it a bit simply as being proactive for potentially named storms that might |
| 2:37.7 | come through Myrtle Beach at some point in the future. It's just part of what they do every |
| 2:43.2 | year and I just have never walked back here to see this. What was your turning point? The trigger for fitness for you? Welcome to Walking is Fitness. |
