What was a bonkers story that a suspect told a cop or security officer that turned out to be true?

My dad was stopped just outside of Detroit in the early 70s, flying down the highway in a boss Mustang.

The cop said it's either stolen or repossessed, which is it?

My dad was a repo man, and it was a repo.

I wish I could have seen his face. No ticket. No idea why he didn't get a ticket, actually. Obviously, repo men are subject to traffic laws. I suspect it's something about repossessing cars in Detroit proper in the early 70s. Not an ideal work site.

I used to be an instructor for the security forces, students in training. In this case, the US Air Force

cops. I was a weapon instructor, but we dealt with a lot of dorm inspections and all that other

fun stuff. Well, this one kid kept falling asleep in class. After many counsellings and some

paperwork, he said he couldn't sleep because the devil was in his dorm room. Of course, we thought

maybe he had some mental issues going on,

but decided to get to the bottom of things. He said every night, around midnight or later,

he'd hear a voice saying to keep his eyes shut and nothing would happen to him. He was freaked out,

so he complied. A couple of the instructors decided to sit with him in his room one night

and told him to go to bed like he usually does. Well,

lo and behold, around 1 a.m., the instructors heard something in the ceiling. They started freaking out a bit,

but watched and waited. Next thing they know, they heard the voice and one of the ceiling tiles

was moved and something jumped down. They flipped the F out and turned on all the lights to see what

the frick was going on. Apparently, this other kid had been kicked out of the military while in training.

He didn't want to go home and face his family,

so every night he'd go into that kid's room, scare the crap out of him,

and then take some food or something and stretch his legs for a bit.

I guess he'd shower during the day, but stayed up in the ceiling for the rest of the time. Needless to say, he was promptly sent home,
