What's up everybody? Welcome into the next Pat's podcast. I'm Phil Perry. We have a micropod of sorts here for you today because we're going to be talking to Devin McCordy as part of a little series that we wanted to do before the draft. Talk to some Patriots, some former patriots, excuse me, and find out what it takes to play their position in New England for Bill Belichick and then

use their commentary, use their analysis, go back to our reporting, go back to the prospects

that we have gotten to know to a degree during the pre-draft process and say,

Player X fits that description.

So we're starting with Devin McCordy.

We're going to be talking to Rob Nikovic about edge defenders in New England,

what it takes to play on the edge for Bill Belichick, James White, on subbacks.

It's going to be a great, great time.

Hopefully we'll even have one or two more later this week to be able to dole out to you as

we get closer day after day to day one of the draft a week from Thursday.

So let's start with McCordy, who is a great get for us because, of course, he can talk

about a couple different positions in the secondary for the Patriots.

We're going to be talking to him about

the free safety spot and specifically the free safety spot as he knew it, as he embodied it here

in New England. A lot of single high coverages here for the Patriots, not a ton of too high stuff,

although they will do some of that as well. But we're going to be talking specifically about what it would take for Bill Belichick to invest in a player to play that Devin McCordy style role. They've got a lot of Duggers and Peppers' and Phillips's already on the roster. Maybe they'll add another strong safety type, but we're going to be talking specifically about free safeties. And then we're going to be talking about Corner as well. You're going to get some great insight here from Devin McCordy. So without further ado, here he is. There he is.
