What the hell are the Republicans doing?

Hello, welcome to another episode of the Weeds on the Vox Media Podcast Network. I'm Matthew

Eglaceus. I'm here with Ezra Klein, who is back from vacation, ready to pontificate on things.

I was back from vacation last week, I think. I forgot about it. Time has no meaning in the pandemic,

but the way we know to live our lives is that we now have a vice president, Kamala Harris.

She is the opposite of a surprise pick, so we've speculated about her a lot.

Already, sometimes things happen and they feel inevitable in retrospect. I had a lot of doubts

about Harris as the best option, even though she was clearly up there in the rankings.

I will say when I saw them up on stage together, it felt very much not even necessarily like the

pick I would have made personally in my hot, takey mode, but the correct and fitting pick.

Together, Biden and Harris represent the modern democratic party well in a way that neither of them

did alone. It's like truly like a balanced ticket in that sense, I think, that brings people in

and that the non-journalists and stuff who I know in my life seemed really happy about this

outcome and here we go. Let's beat Trump.
