0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to a new T-Rex talk. This one is kind of an interesting one. If you clicked on this |
0:06.8 | because of the title, good for you. If you clicked on this in spite of the title, good for you. |
0:13.8 | We're talking about the gun industry for a couple of reasons. One is that shot show is very, |
0:18.6 | very soon, and I've been thinking quite a bit about shot show, |
0:21.2 | looking at other folks that are there trying to make a plan for what we're doing at |
0:24.7 | a shot show. But the other reason we're talking about this particular topic is, this is a |
0:29.7 | request from someone at T-Rex. And this idea actually comes from open source defense. I'm actually |
0:36.8 | going to begin by telling you to go back, if you're not subscribed to open source defense, you should be. |
0:42.4 | But about a year ago, they posted a article in their newsletter talking about an observation about Coca-Cola from Andy Warhol. |
0:50.6 | Now, I'm not a super big Coke fan or Andy Warhol fan, but they made a fascinating |

1:02.2 | are good. The best products are good and affordable. And they start their article by saying, I'm not |
1:09.2 | going to just read the whole article. By the way, you can check it out. It was the November 2021 issue of that newsletter. They start out by saying, as guns continue to attract a wider audience, the products are getting better. That makes intuitive sense. A bigger, more engaged audience increases the return on innovation, which in turn |
1:28.5 | attracts innovators. But products getting better isn't just a vague trend. It has a specific meaning. |
1:34.9 | What better means is higher value per dollar. And this is one of the things that I want to talk about. |
1:40.5 | What are the standards by which the gun industry should be improving products or |
1:45.7 | improving perception of products or improving their goals so that they can actually know whether or not |
1:52.6 | they're meeting them and all that that implies. But what Andy Warhol is talking about is a very |
1:57.7 | interesting observation about Coca-Cola, kind of the company, but mostly |
2:02.0 | Coca-Cola the specific drink. |
2:03.5 | I can't even remember how big Coca-Cola was when he would have made this observation. |
2:08.9 | This is late 50s, early 60s that he said, what is great about this country is that America |
