Did you know that the good thief wasn't always so good?

And I don't mean about his life in the years and the months and the weeks leading up to

Good Friday. I mean on Good Friday itself, right there on Calvary. Do you know what he was doing

to Jesus on the cross?

There's a little biblical detail that's given to us in the Gospels, but it's often overlooked.

Many people don't notice this, and they just think he just had this conversion, but they don't

know the background of what he was doing on Good Friday.

And it sheds so much more light on his beautiful change of heart and gives us

great hope and confidence in the Father's mercy no matter what we've done. What did the good thief do

on Good Friday? And why did he change? That's we're going to take a look at in this week's podcast.

So welcome to all things Catholic. I'm your host, Edward Sree, and I pray you have

a blessed holy week as we're approaching the great tritium. We're going to enter into the biblical

stories of Good Friday. And I want to share from this story that's found in Luke's gospel.

But I want to start with a little biblical background on something Matthew tells us.

For it's Matthews gospel that gives us the little detail about what the good thief was doing

to Jesus on Calvary on Good Friday before he had his profound conversion.

So in Matthew chapter 27, read about how Jesus was crucified,

and he's lifted up on the cross, and he has the two robbers being crucified with him.

Now, the word there for robbers or thieves is the Greek word, Lestai, which doesn't mean like a pickpocketer
