With that, listen to the Word. On Sunday mornings before the update, we go through 1 Corinthians

chapter by chapter, verse by verse. And today our text will be chapter 14 verses 36 through 40,

and you'll forgive me as I try to keep this cough at bay.

1 Corinthians chapter 14 verses 36 through 40.

Once you find you away there if you're able, I ask you to stand.

You can follow along as I read.

Beginning in verse 36, the Apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit writes,

or did the word of God originate with you?

Or are you the only people it has reached?

If anyone, verse 37, thinks they are a prophet or otherwise gifted by the Spirit,

let them acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord's command, but if anyone ignores

this, they themselves will be ignored. Therefore, verse 39, my brothers and sisters,

be eager to prophesy and do not forbid speaking in tongues, but verse 40, everything should be done

in a fitting and orderly way. Let's pray. Lord, would you settle our hearts and focus our attention

so that we can give you our undivided attention? Lord, that's why we're here today. We want to hear you speak into our lives in and through your word.

And Lord, when you do, we want it to be met with ears that hear and eyes that see and especially hearts that receive.

Lord, I don't think there's a one of us in this wonderful church that wants our time together

in your word today to be a waste of time. So would you minister to us, we pray. In Jesus' name,

amen. You can be seated. Thank you. So today's teaching will be the final of a four-part

series I've titled, What the Church Should Be Like.

The chapter concludes with the Apostle Paul making it very clear and in no uncertain terms,

...
