And we're off again, three minutes after 10, another week that we get to spend together.

Thank you very much for choosing LBC and thank you in advance for your

ears or possibly your contributions to this week's proceedings. We're going to begin with, I think,

the fairly obvious conversation, which is about vaccines, which are back in the news again,

but accompanied on this occasion by riots in some European cities.

And that is, I'm about to say concerning, but that would be a statement of the blooming obvious, wouldn't it?

And also, I think important, because my goodness knows these days are rare,

a cautious celebration of us being in the right place, roughly.

I know that sounds odd given that some of the figures being posted in some European countries

are pretty much in terms of per capita percentages.

They're now having a terrible, terrible crisis because they're recording roughly the same

sort of figures that we've been recording for months.

But it is actually more complicated than that.

It is a little bit more nuanced than that because relationship between case numbers and

hospitalisation, serious illnesses and deaths is the key factor now, has been for some time.

It's easy to forget that.
