Summary

We know who we're fighting... but what are we fighting for? Today, I will discuss this vital question with James Lindsey. James has probably done more than anyone else to help the layman understand the origins of wokeness. As we fight this battle, we must have a coherent idea of where we are going and what we want at the end of all the fighting. Is it our current system with minor adjustments, or is it something entirely new? Let's ask James.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to a special edition of making the argument where we are asking the question, what should the right want?

0:08.6

We all seem to be fairly clear on at least one thing we're all fighting against.

0:12.8

We're fighting against wokeness.

0:14.7

And our guest today has probably done, I would argue, has done the best job of anybody of explaining the political

0:22.4

and the philosophical underpinnings of wokeness, talking about how it's manifested in place

0:28.6

like communist China, how it's infiltrated in the United States. If you want to go down the

0:33.4

rabbit hole of wokeness, James Lindsay is your guy, and I would highly encourage that you go take

0:39.4

a look at the video he's put together over at new discourses. His bullet points are fantastic.

0:44.1

If you were looking for a crash course in wokeness, James has provided it for you free of charge.

0:50.0

But today, we're going to talk more about this problem that we see within the right, because as it's been put before by one guess before,

0:57.2

co-belligerents are not necessarily allies.

1:01.0

And so if we can really have any hope of not just defeating wokeness,

1:05.1

but then coming out the other end of this was something that we really believe in and want to fight for,

1:09.9

we're going to be in trouble. Now, for the purpose of this conversation, we've identified kind of three groups

1:16.7

on the right. One group is what you might kind of call the tech bros, or it's the people that

1:22.0

are fairly new to the right, but they don't see any massive problems. They just kind of want to reset till 2005.

1:29.7

That's what they want to start back over. And other than that, they're pretty happy with what's

1:34.1

going on. Then you have this crowd that is still very, very much involved in the classical

1:39.0

liberal tradition. But they are also very, very aware of some of the problems that we've seen transpire within our country.

1:46.1

They understand some of the ways that wokeness infiltrated, and they want to preserve classical

1:51.2

liberalism, but they do want to make some structural changes to make sure that we can be better for

1:56.2

the fight. And then you have a third category, and this third category is at the point where
