Hi, I'm Dave. I've been walking for fitness since 2013, averaging about 21,000 steps a day. I am walking right now and would love to have you join me for the next 10 minutes.

anniversary it was seven years ago today that I set my own PR step count. PR stands for

personal record. And it was a concept that I transferred from my running days to what I do now.

And in the running community, if you're a competitive runner, even if you're just competing with yourself,

in fact, that's really what it's all about, is self-competition.

It is how fast you have run a particular event. So if you run a bunch of 5Ks, which is 3.1 miles,

what's your fastest 5K? Oh, there's a little snake. Well, how about that? It's probably all of

five inches, and he is way more afraid of me even though I had a bolt of

adrenaline and seeing him. Okay. Well, that's fun. Where was I?

Now I'm going to be watching where I'm walking even more

So if you run a 5K, 3.1 miles, your PR would be your fastest 5K.

The PR that I remember, the one that means the most to me, was for a half marathon.

And I guess I ran maybe a half dozen and then one year decided I'm going to go for a time

I wanted an hour and something, probably an hour and 59 minutes and a handful of seconds.
