I'm so, I'm so, I'm so, I'm so, I'm so, I'm so, I'm so, I seminary, I became a student ministry pastor, which means that I spent five and a half years working with high school and middle school

students. I was actually a student ministry pastor when the song Friday by Rebecca Black came out.

Do you guys remember that song? Party and party and? Yeah. Yeah, you know that song. So yeah, I'd say that I've suffered for Jesus. Anyway, I was a student

ministry pastor for five and a half years, and something that I learned very early on in working

with high school and middle school students is that there are some students that wanted to be at church,

and then there are some students that were forced to be

at church because they were dragged by their parents. And if you think back to when you were in

high school or middle school, you might have been one of those kids that was dragged by your

parents to be at church. And I specifically remember this one kid who was at church almost every Sunday.

He was a quiet kid, but he was very nice.

And I would engage with him on most Sundays, but what he would do is he would show up,

he would sit by himself, he would endure the service, and then he would leave.

And I'll never forget this one Sunday when I was cleaning up the room after all the

students had left, and I found a note on his particular seat. And it was a note that he had left

specifically for me. And as I picked up the note and read it, here's all it said to me. It said,

I like your Christ, not your Christians. I looked up that student today on

Facebook, and at least as of today, he would identify himself as an agnostic. Someone who would say

that if there is a God, he is unknowable.

Now, I haven't talked to this student in years,

and so I have no clue what has influenced his spiritual journey over the years.

But part of me just wonders, based on that note that he left for me,

part of me wonders if one of the main things that has hindered him from meeting Jesus is Christians who look nothing like Jesus. Brennan Manning says it this way. He says the greatest single cause
