One of my very favorite things, oh, my very favorite things, not just about life coaching,

but about life, is understanding the subtext of the thing.

What does that mean? What's the subtext of the thing? I should probably put that a bit more

elegantly. I should come up with a cool phrase for that. But what I mean is this. As a coach, when someone's talking to you,

they might be complaining about a few things. They might be complaining about work. They might be

complaining about their marriage. They might be complaining about something that hasn't gone

their way and their frustration. And what a good coach does is, of course,

they listen to the situation, but they really look for the issue beneath the issue. Sometimes

it's called the problem beneath the problem. And often lots of problems will say, you know, sprout up in our lives,

but there's perhaps one underlying problem that unites them all. And when you can tap into that

and understand that, that need that we have, that calling to something, that expression, we can solve a lot of

problems in one go. I'm going to give you an example. Just say for, yeah, for, this is a common one

one. Maybe you, you feel upset that you carry the weight of most

of the housework. And perhaps on the team that you work with, you know, in your job, you also,

you know, carry most of the weight. You tend to do a lot. And then you end up complaining,

you know, no one helps me at work. No one helps me at home. Maybe this shows up in other areas,

too, in relationships. You feel like you put the effort in and that effort isn't equally matched.

Right. This could all be happening in a person's life at the same time. And yes, these

can all be addressed individually as almost their own separate problems. But as a coach,

you will observe the magic of seeing, you know, these are perhaps just symptoms of a greater

need. So what could that be? Just say you think,
