Today my friend, I am reading from Robin Sharma's brand new book The Wealth Money Can't Buy.

I'm going to read this out to you.

Psychologist Abraham Maslow is famous for his hierarchy of human needs.

If you haven't seen it, the framework looks like a pyramid.

At the bottom of the most basic needs of human beings,

which he refers to as physiological needs, such as food and shelter.

Once those are satisfied, Maslow said we then become able to rise to steadily fulfill the

next levels of necessities.

Our safety needs, personal security, work, health and prosperity.

Then higher to our love and belonging needs,

and then up to esteem needs,

which are all about self-respect

and the desire for recognition and status.

At the top of the popular framework is self actualization. Once all lower needs have been

met, the thinking goes, we gain the strength, confidence and personal armor to pursue the lofty and yet deeply important

work of becoming all that we are meant to be, to realize our potential, to live our gifts, to own our primal genius.

Here's the fascinating thing.

Just before Maslow died, he decided to add one new level above self-actualization at the very peak of the pyramid.

He called it self-transcendants.
