We're doing a collection of talks entitled What's Really Important what's really important so tonight's big idea as I get started is what's actually really important and one of the impetus that the passion behind it is that we live

in such a marketing age and we're told that absolutely everything's important.

Everything's a must.

You got to have it, you got to do it. You got to try it. It's incredible.

Make sure you have the perfect hair. Make sure you have the perfect shirt. Make sure you have the perfect shoes.

The perfect job. The perfect boyfriend, girlfriend. The perfect dream. you know, all these things are so important

and of course if everything's important, nothing's important.

What's actually deserving of your time, your attention, your focus, your energy.

You ever gotten really worked up about something?

And only to realize it really didn't matter.

It's not that important.

And so I'd like us to kind of discern together

and decipher together what actually is deserving

of our energy, our time, our effort, our focus.

And by the way, can we thank the musicians, the singers.

They will be back at the end of the talk, the sermon, we'll sing some more about God. I feel great. We just

we landed today from Cape Town South Africa and yeah it's a long trip to 11 hour flights LA to

London London to Cape Town only to get to Cape Town which is summertime in

South Africa and it was a low-level hurricane, literally.

It was gusting, horrific wind, rain, and so I'm clicking my heels, there's no be back home. I'm clicking my heels.

There's no place like home.

That's a reference to Dorothy and Wizard of Oz.
