And we're back from outer space.

Well, not really, but just from our Christmas, a bleak, pauliness sabbatical and ready to go with a new year of fun and or frolics in the world of local and national politics.

It's probably too late to wish anybody a happy new year, but let's hope everyone's new year is proving positive 15 days in.

Yeah, although it quite clearly isn't for some people, which we'll get two in a minute.

Indeed. Yeah, quite a lot.

It's one of those things when we take a break, either nothing happens and we turn up and go,

we'll carry on, or the world of politics goes upside down in all sorts of directions.

And I guess probably over last year, the majority of it was kind of at a national level,

but we're starting the new year with a fairly seismic event in Portsmouth politics.

Yeah, indeed.

Much as a shock, well, there's been kind of a precipitation of a suspension of one

Labour councillor, then a deselection of another, and then their expulsion and that's and that's basically repeated

guest to the other show councillor Cal Corcori from Charles Dickens Ward so yeah there

seems to be a bit of things don't seem to be all quiet on the home front um yeah and

cal has you know cal has been very generous with his time to the podcast and his politics is very

different to ours but um you know he's always come across as um as a uh as a very committed local

councillor it's very clear he's got the respect of his residence

so shall i attempt to sum up the sort of first part of the story or a better still have you got
