describe the gift of tongues in detail.

You have Luke's description of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2, where the Holy Spirit fills the church

and the disciples begin speaking in other languages, and you have a longer discussion about spiritual

gifts in 1 Corinthians, especially chapters 12 through 14.

There are a lot of questions about the gift of tongues.

So in this video, I'm going to talk about what it is and what it isn't according to the scriptures.

When the day of Pentecost arrived, the disciples were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

That's Acts chapter 2, verse 4.

Now, these were actual languages that the disciples had never learned.

So this was the supernatural ability to speak in another language.

Jews from every nation had gone to Jerusalem to celebrate the feast of Pentecost,

and while they were there, they began to hear the disciples in their native tongues.

Quote, and they were amazed and astonished, saying,

...
