Summary

We all know what happened at Cana but what is the deeper meaning? It is much more than Jesus just turning water into wine. With so much to understand in this one passage, Fr. Chris Alar breaks it down so it is easy to understand and will help you to understand the significance of the role of Mary as intercessor. It is Biblical!

Well, good morning, everybody, and thank you for joining us. I'm Father Chris, Alar. We're glad you're with us.

Actually, we had a few people show up here today at the shrine, which is wonderful because we got about a half a foot of snow, and it's still coming down.

0:13.8

I didn't think we'd have anybody, but we had some diehards here from all out of state from Pennsylvania and New York and Vermont, New Hampshire.

So we're grateful that you all could make it. Today, we're doing a very important talk, and I really messed up.

1:39.1

this year is not year C. That's when we read Kena. So instead, we'll have another reading from Gospel of John

1:45.1

chapter 1. So I'm still doing Cana today, though, because pretend it's year C, and as Father Matt

1:54.1

pointed out in the traditional calendar, it's always the reading of Cana tomorrow. So he said,

2:00.6

Father Chris, just tell him

2:01.6

that you were talking about traditional form

2:03.8

as celebrated in the Latin Mass, in the TLM.

2:08.6

So in the old traditional missile

2:10.5

that goes all the way back to St. Jerome,

2:13.3

it is the reading on Kana.
