President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin's meeting in Alaska is due to start

soon.

A Kremlin spokesperson said the talks could last, quote, at least six to seven hours, according

to Russian state media.

European allies watching from afar are hoping for a ceasefire and security

guarantees for Ukraine and have said Russia should face fresh sanctions if it doesn't agree to a ceasefire.

Former National Intelligence Officer and Russia expert Angela Stent spoke to CNN about how

she thinks the Russian president is approaching the summit. Putin is going into this, I think, feeling fairly self-confident.

He knows that President Trump wants to reset this relationship,

that he wants to come out saying we have much better relations with Russia

than either Joe Biden or any previous U.S. president did.
