I got this advice in the mid-2000s and with the phone company would only use the internet after 6pm.

So it's bizarre to think that that was ever a thing.

My grandma told me that to find where a restaurant was, you looked up their phone number in the yellow pages,

called them and asked for directions.

As someone who worked at a restaurant hostess before, the amount of people

that actually asked for directions was honestly astonishing. There were also a lot of people that

asked for the address. My grandma was advised to drink Guinness when pregnant because it was iron

rich and she was a little anemic. She got the same way in her last year of life and took great

pleasure in reminding us all that she needed her

medicinal Guinness. When you get near the end of pregnancy, the baby will move less because they run out of

room. That is some outdated and dangerous advice. Any change in normal movements or reduction in

movements should be checked out ASAP by a midwife or doctor.

When on vacation, it's unsafe to carry cash.

I remember getting Travelers Checks on the first big trip I took without my family,

only to then find out that practically nowhere took Travelers checks, and then when they did, you got your change back as cash anyway.
