0:11.0	And I'm Patrick Miller. Right now we're learning how to follow Jesus by working our way through the Gospel of Luke.
0:19.0	I think one of the curses of the modern world is that we have developed an inability to trust each other,
0:25.8	to trust people we disagree with, to trust people we are different than.
0:30.8	And I don't mean to suggest that there aren't reasons that this lack of trust exists.
0:35.9	Of course there are.
0:37.5	There have been many things that have happened that have caused people, maybe people in a racial
0:42.1	group or people of an economic level or thinking about politicians
0:46.5	or institutions.
0:47.8	There are reasons that we don't trust each other.
0:50.4	There are reasons that we don't trust certain groups. But the inability to trust each
0:56.1	other, to believe that even though that we might have different opinions, we are people
1:01.7	who are working toward the same goal.
1:04.0	The inability to trust each other's motives, the inability to work with each other
1:09.0	across political lines, across economic lines,
1:13.0	across racial lines, is devastating to a society.
1:18.2	And I think it's devastating no matter what season
1:21.1	a country or a group is in, but sometimes let's just say it can be
1:26.2	more devastating than others. And in the time of the coronavirus it would be
1:32.1	fantastic to be able to trust politicians, to trust the
1:36.4	media, to trust people of the different political party than us.
