And I'm Patrick Miller. Right now we're learning how to follow Jesus by working our way through the Gospel of Luke.

I think one of the curses of the modern world is that we have developed an inability to trust each other,

to trust people we disagree with, to trust people we are different than.

And I don't mean to suggest that there aren't reasons that this lack of trust exists.

Of course there are.

There have been many things that have happened that have caused people, maybe people in a racial

group or people of an economic level or thinking about politicians

or institutions.

There are reasons that we don't trust each other.

There are reasons that we don't trust certain groups. But the inability to trust each

other, to believe that even though that we might have different opinions, we are people

who are working toward the same goal.

The inability to trust each other's motives, the inability to work with each other

across political lines, across economic lines,

across racial lines, is devastating to a society.

And I think it's devastating no matter what season

a country or a group is in, but sometimes let's just say it can be

more devastating than others. And in the time of the coronavirus it would be

fantastic to be able to trust politicians, to trust the

media, to trust people of the different political party than us.
