Welcome to the Euro Intelligence Podcast. I'm Wolfgang Munchau and with me, I'm Zasana Munchank and Jack Smith.

0:06.6

Today we would like to talk about the debt break, European defense and Donald Trump.

0:12.3

And we've had some astonishingly important news in the last week and people thought, you know,

0:17.8

every day something news is happening. We've had the famous bust-up in the White House, summits, declarations that the EU needs to

0:25.3

take care after its own, then the essential suspension of defense spending from the

0:32.1

Stability Pact.

0:33.4

1:11.9

1:16.6

right. It's probably worth going through the actual decision that they took because they have

1:20.8

been discussing a number of things in the last few days. And one of the things that they were discussing

1:25.1

was a sort of an off-bushed vehicle for defense.

1:28.0

There were an awful lot of people who said, wonderful.

1:29.8

There were economists who made proposals of this.

1:31.5

This was the biggest nonsense I've ever seen because this would have been a really bad reform.
