Summary

The likely end of Roe v. Wade marks a bitter setback for the pro-choice movement. But the success of abortion legalization campaigns in Ireland and Argentina may be models for a way forward.  What are the ingredients for effective public messaging? What can American activists learn from the examples of international movements? Guest: Anat Shenker-Osorio, communications researcher and campaign advisor, host of the podcast “Words To Win By.” If you enjoy this show, please consider signing up for Slate Plus. Democrats should start saying about abortion. What do you see there? Um, I see a mix of things which

1:26.5

I think is my perennial answer to the question of what I see in Joe Biden. I see claiming the

1:33.2

moral high ground, which is an incredibly important thing to do in any issue area. This one

1:38.6

arguably more than others. And then I also see trepidation. I see caution. I see concern.

Anat doesn't love this trepidation, but it was on full display when President Biden got

1:52.0

pressed to respond to the Supreme Court's draft opinion just hours after it leaked. Biden was

2:09.6

the words abort a child. So the idea that we're going to make a judgment that is going to say that

2:19.7

no one can make the judgment to choose to abort a child based on decision by the Supreme Court.
