Mark Joseph Stern, how confident are you in how the Supreme Court is going to rule when

it comes to abortion? My confidence level is high. Like off the charts high? No, not

off the charts high. I mean, you know, pride go with before the fall. I can't ever say

that. But I would say I am pretty confident. I would bet a reasonable sum of money on

the outcome that I have in mind. Okay, and the outcome you think is that the Supreme

Court will overturn Roe v Wade.

This is a weird time to be Mark Joseph Stern, Slates Supreme Court reporter. For years,

he's been saying how extreme the court's getting. He's marveled at the way the justices

have been quietly steamrolling over precedent. And when he dialed in to last week's oral

arguments, or the state of Mississippi, was asking the court to uphold a ban on abortion

after 15 weeks of pregnancy, it felt a little like an I told you so moment.
