Highgate Cemetery sits on a hill in North London,

its grand Victorian tombs jutting out from beneath blankets of ivy,

leaning at odd angles as if the earth itself is trying to swallow them whole.

Established in 1839 as part of a plan to ease London's overcrowded churchyards,

Highgate was meant to be a place of peace and beauty, a park for both the living and the dead.

But the cemetery's reputation quickly took a darker turn.

By the 20th century, it was known as a place of ghostly encounters, strange lights,

and one of the most bizarre paranormal feuds in British history.

Some call it haunted. Others say it's just imagination,

running wild, the mind playing tricks in a place designed to unnerve. But when you walk through high gates, weathered gates, past the towering Egyptian-style tombs and into the overgrown circle of Lebanon.
