Four minutes after ten is a time. A very good morning to you. And, well, I suppose I should start by urging you to stay

at home today if you possibly can, because that is still the official advice, at least as far

as I understand it. But even a cursory glance at the news this morning and last night will

show you that many, many, many people have completely given up on trying to observe it,

whether you are celebrating Liverpool's magnificent triumph in the Premier League or heading

towards the beach in Dorset or having a sort of unofficial or illegal street gatherings in

West London, every single person in every single one of these categories is behaving in a way

that to my eyes is completely at odds with what we are supposed to be doing. Of course, the problem

kicks in or becomes really, really clear when you remember that it was, I think, on Wednesday

at PMQs that the Prime Minister, in response to a question from

a Brighton MP, responded that city leaders should show some guts and welcome visitors back.

I've also gone back to May to look at the changing guidance then, when they loosened the limits

on what we couldn't do for our daily exercise.

And of course, it was back in May, the middle of May or so, that we were told we could go to the beach for a swim

as long as we observed social distancing.

I just heard in the news bulletin there that George Eustace has been suggesting that we would close beaches

in the event of people not observing social distancing.

And unless there's been an, I mean, an absolute epidemic of weapons-grade photoshopping,

then yesterday was a fairly conclusive proof that people are not observing it.
