Hi friends this week's episode is about to begin and I'm really excited to share it with you but before we do a little behind the scenes my friend journalist an expert about all things Jewish history in Israel, Ha Aviv Rata Gore, and I plan to have a 45 minute conversation about what

Zionism is, why it matters, and what the world gets wrong about Zionism.

And when I say the world, I mean from all aspects of the world, from within the Jewish

world, from without the Jewish world, external, internal, all those things.

But if you know anything about my friend Haviv, and if you know anything about me,

you might not be all that surprised to hear that the conversation ended up about four times longer than that. It was not

45 minutes and it ended up much richer and more wide-ranging than we even expected.

So instead of one awesome conversation for you all,

this is the first of a two-part series about Zionism.

Yes, Zionism. See, I find that people use this term often.

Zionism, they ask questions about it, they either identify as a Zionist or strongly do not

identify as a Zionist, but rarely do we get to explore the ideas of Zionism, the history of Zionism, the philosophy of Zionism.

And dare I say Zionism's instead of Zionism, though as you'll hear,

Chaviv would absolutely balk at my attempt to pluralize Zionism.

Anyway, this first episode is more background about Zionism, what it is, how groups define it,

why it matters how groups define it.

Zionism's relationship to the Holocaust and so much more.
