Things have been a little weird around here because six days ago we welcomed a litter of four puppies. One of these puppies will be my next dog, and it got me thinking about how I identify myself and how that relates to my dogs. And it is the same for you. Your identity matters for you and your dog.

0:00.0	Hey everybody. Welcome to Shape by Dog. I am Susan Garrett and it is tonight. By that I mean it is past 9 o'clock at night. Technically past my bedtime. Normally I do these podcasts in the morning. So, this is different.
0:23.0	We're going to see how Susan podcasts when she podcasts at night because for the last six days,
0:29.8	things have been a little weird around here in that we have a litter of puppies. Yes,
0:34.6	my youngest momentum, who is five years old? I keep getting asked that question.
0:38.8	She had a litter of four puppies and oh my gosh, they're so cute. One of these puppies is my
0:45.4	next puppy that I'm going to be taking. And if you've watched episode 13 here on Shape by Dog,
0:51.3	you know that I already know the name of that puppy. It's just for me
0:55.3	to decide which one of these four puppies is that puppy. And to tell you the truth,
1:00.6	I believe I knew the night they were born. And so we will see if I'm right. I'm not going to
1:07.4	tell you which one, because I don't want you to influence anything, but I'm
1:12.0	pretty sure I know which one of these puppies I'm going to keep. And so the process begins.
1:18.0	I'm going to be doing some interesting things with this litter of puppies. Of course,
1:21.3	I'll be sharing it here on the podcast and on my blog. Stay tuned. A lot of cool things
1:25.6	up and coming. But it made me realize, like,
1:28.6	how I identify myself. Like, when you think of Susan Garrett, or you go to listen to Susan
1:34.3	Garrett's podcast, you have an identity of me. Now, it may be Susan Garrett, the world champion
1:40.9	agility competitor. It may be Susan Garrett as the educator of dog trainers or
1:47.4	educator of dog owners. It may be she's my coach in my online classes. Like you all have a different
1:53.8	idea of me. What's important is how you think of yourself as a dog owner. So it's not important how you think of me. What is important is how you think of yourself as a dog owner. So, it's not important how you think of me. What is important
2:04.6	is how I think of me. Super critical because it will hurt or help your growth as a dog trainer.
2:11.2	Now, you're going to say, Susan, I'm just a dog owner. Guess what? If you own a dog,
2:15.9	then the dog is getting trained. Now, the dog is getting trained either
