Today, we're talking about the deep state.

In this divided country, it's no surprise.

That means different things to different people.

To Rush Limbaugh, it's an entrenched bureaucracy with allies in politics and the media,

undermining President Trump with fake news about the damage being done by his administration.

The Obama administration and its holdovers in the deep state trying to sabotage the duly elected

president of the United States. That is the story. That is what is

happening. And it's happening right in front of our eyes. It's not even a secret. We see the

results of it every day in the New York Times, which I believe is complicit with Obama and the

Democrats in this attempted sabotage.

Once again, that was Rush Limbaugh, but others say the deep state is nothing new.

It has a history, going all the way back to President Dwight Eisenhower and that famous warning

in his farewell address in 1961.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence,

whether sought or unsought by the military industrial complex.

The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our

liberties or democratic processes. Our first guest wrote a book called The Deep State before

Donald Trump was even elected. His deep state had its origins decades ago. He's Michael

Offgren. He spent 28 years on Capitol Hill.
