Welcome back to our special here on the First TV. What is the American Dream?

J.P. DeGantz is here as the founder and president of Communio. He's the author also of Endgame, the church's strategic move to save faith and family in America.

Yeah, we equipped to serve and equip the local church

to share the gospel through the renewal of healthy relationships,

marriage and the family.

Great. I want to ask about how you do that.

Let's weave back around though. Let's start off with our question of the day. What is the American dream?

You know, it's living, it's living a happy life. And by happy, I mean that in the ancient sense of the word. That is a life of virtue. It's a life fulfilled in sacrificial love for someone else and receiving that sacrificial love,

right? That we find these goods external to ourselves, this idea of a memetic purpose in life,

that is that outwardly focused life. So living for our loved ones, our spouse, our children, our family, our faith, right?

That is, that's really what the American dream is.

And, you know, if you look at my opinion data and polling data right now, those folks who are coming up saying that they're the happiest are folks living

that life. It's folks who are married. It's folks who have children. It's folks who regularly
