at BTR.org slash group. What is post separation abuse? Marcy's here to tell her story, but I want to

explain it a little bit before she starts.

Post-separation abuse refers to the continuation of emotional, financial, and psychological abuse by an ex-partner after the relationship has ended.

So anything after separation and after divorce.

This could include financial abuse, unauthorized

entry into your living space that he no longer shares with you, and manipulating your children.

It's really important to get the right support for post-separation abuse because a lot of people will tell you things like

just get over it or how long have you been divorced? Hasn't it been a few years? Or you need to forgive him and

move on? Things like that. They don't really understand that the abuse is happening real time and

that you're not talking about the past. You're talking about the current situation.

Marcy is going to share her backstory and then toward the end we'll talk about the post-separation

abuse that she's been experiencing since her divorce. Welcome, Marcy. Hi. Can you start at the

beginning of your story? Before that, I'd like to share a funny story. This was when we had originally separated and I was trying to send something to my husband to help him understand the situation and it happened to be something from you. And I didn't really know it was from you at the time. It just resonated with me and I thought it would help.

And ever since that time in all his communication, he had been referencing you as this horrible person who's trying to break up families and do horrible things for women.
