Summary

Hospitality over this past year for many meant logging onto a Zoom call, however, as we step into a ‘new normal’ there is greater opportunity to not only embody hospitality but to expand our understanding of what it means to truly ‘welcome the stranger.’

0:44.4	Well, it is a great pleasure to step into a topic that I think is crucial as we return into something of the realm of normalcy, but I don't think it's normal. Let's just call it a new normal. That is, for many of us,
0:50.9	we've really not had the opportunity to exercise or be a participant in
0:57.2	hospitable worlds in the COVID isolation. You know, the hospitality has been joining somebody
1:06.6	else in a Zoom call. But our worlds are opening at least a little bit. And in that context,
1:14.5	we've got the opportunity to participate a little bit more in the flesh, in the experience of
1:23.5	being hospitable. And to begin this conversation with my very best friend, Dr. Trimper Longman
1:31.9	the third, is just always so fun to be with you, Trimper, and particularly when I get to
1:40.3	partake of your remarkable expertise. So welcome.
1:45.8	Well, thank you, Dan. And as you know, it's always great to be with you too, except, as you just
1:52.4	reminded me earlier today, that whenever we get together in a hospitable fashion, you trounce
1:58.6	me in ping pong. I'm not sure that's... Well, and we've just finished scheduling
2:04.9	a course that we will offer at the Seattle School for March of 2022. And I've asked, I think you
2:15.1	noted in my email, that we would pay for you to meet with Lucy,
2:22.9	the faux psychiatrist who charges five cents per session, to then deal with both your grief
2:32.4	and shame for losing so often to me.
