John 14 is Jesus' promise to his disciples about heaven.

He is getting ready to leave them because of the death and the resurrection and the ascension to his father.

And they want to know how we're going to make it in your absence.

He says, why are you absent from me? Let me tell you a little bit about heaven.

Because even though you're not with me, you need to know that I'm going to prepare a place for you.

He says, let not your heart be troubled.

Even though I'm leaving, and even though you're going to be here in this world with all of its difficulties and problems,

don't let it send you off tilt.

Don't let it cause you to lose sight of something bigger.

Believe in God, believe also in me, in my father's house are many dwelling places.

If it were not so, I would have told you, for I go to prepare a place for you.

We would call it heaven.
