0:00.0	What's going on guys? Question number 30 in the catechism, and it is, what is faith in Jesus Christ?
0:06.2	Faith in Jesus Christ is acknowledging the truth of everything that God has revealed in His Word,
0:12.5	trusting in Him, and also receiving and resting on Him alone for salvation as He has offered to us in the gospel. So it starts off by number one,
0:23.4	acknowledging the truth of everything that God has revealed in His Word. Faith in Jesus looks like,
0:30.5	do I believe the stuff that God has said in His Word? And then do I trust in that? Trusting in
0:36.3	him and what He said in His word. Genesis chapter 22, God tells Abraham back in Genesis 12, hey, I want you to trust me. I'm going to make you a father of many nations. The Messiah is going to come through you. You're going to have a kid in your old age. It's going to be amazing. You're going to be the father of the faith. Now, Abraham was like, this is crazy, but I believe in you and I trust you. And he messes up a lot. He'd be trusted himself sometimes. But in Genesis chapter 22, God says, you know that son that I promised to you? I want you to take him up on a mountain. I want you to sacrifice him. Abraham does it. He doesn't.
1:11.6	Right before he's about to drop the knife, an angel intervenes.
1:14.6	And God tells Abraham, now I know.
1:19.6	Now I know you trust me.
1:21.6	It was a test that even when things did it make sense,
1:26.6	Abraham trusted God would make a way. that even when things didn't make sense,
1:30.3	Abraham trusted God would make a way.
1:32.6	God promised me this child.
1:34.2	I believe that this is the child.
1:36.2	So if God's going to raise them from the dead,
1:37.9	I don't know what's going to happen.
1:40.1	I just know that I can trust in God and I will trust in God even if it doesn't make sense.
1:42.8	That's what faith looks like. The Bible says that God
1:45.5	accounted Abraham's faith as righteousness. But faith in Jesus also looks like receiving and resting
1:57.6	on him alone for salvation, receiving from him salvation and resting in him,
2:03.5	knowing that he is the only way to be saved. So it's not my good works. It's not what I can do.
2:08.2	It's not how I do it. It's not who I am. It's not how much money I have or how much people like me,
