Hey everybody, this is Heidi St. John. Thanks for tuning in today. You guys have found me at my little corner of the internet today is Thursday the 14th of April.

And as you guys can see, I am joined today by my friend, author and actress and activist extraordinaire Sam Sorbo. And we are going to talk about the state of education in America. Stick around. I think you're going to be encouraged.

All right. You guys. So I'm glad that you've joined me on this Thursday. Lots of things happening in the news. If you want to find out where I'm going to be, you can go to Heidi St. John.com for such events.

I've got a lot of things happening here in Congressional District 3 as I run for Congress. But I'm going to take a break from all of those things today because I have a treasured friend with me in the studio.

Sam Sorbo and I were connected several years ago out on the speaking circuit. This woman is straight fire. And so of course, I was immediately intrigued and just love to watch her passion, particularly as a relates to education.

And I'm thrilled today because she came here for a special event. And she's here at the homeschool. I'm here and I can't stop grinning. I'm just thrilled to be here. I feel like like because we can see ourselves in the camera, basically.

And I'm going, Oh, would you bite that silly grin off your face and I can't do it? I'm just so happy to be here with you.

I'm just thrilled for me just to have Sam here. And I have been a fan of yours for a long time. I love that you are outspoken. One of the few actually families that have come out of Hollywood Indian or two industry.

You guys have been, you're not woke. There's will Smith. I mean, he's a family man. He's doing great. We'll do great. Keep it up. Well, keep it up.

Yes, it was, but we'll apologize later. All right. So if you had an opportunity to just get any message out right now. I mean, I have a feeling I know what you're going to say. If you're talking to the culture.

Yeah, culture really is in crisis. Yeah. I mean, in a hundred different ways. We're we're we're burning the candle as a country. Yeah.

In all the wrong places and burning as a country. We are burning as a country. And the Linchpin is what education? It's all about education. And and what's sad about it is we've all been educated. And so we only know what they taught us to know.

And we think that we know what we need to know, but we don't we only know what they taught us to think we need to know. And so it's it's a very, very difficult message that I bring is very.

It's a crapsharing. Why did I pick this one? You know, Rob McCoy loves to say he likes to preach his congregation down to a manageable size because he talks about politics. Yeah.

How can you be a preacher and not talk about politics and how can I be a woman with children and not try to save other people's children and that's all that's all I'm trying to do.

And and I do it by saving the parents first not that not that I'm saving people, but I'm I'm waking people up so that they can save themselves in a sense.

And so you know, we talk about education, but really what's wrong with education, what's wrong with education is the entire paradigm of education.

And so I I was on the phone this morning with the dear friend who hasn't quite figured it out. He hasn't quite bought in.

And he said, well, you know, I work full time. Sam, so I don't know how I can teach my child. We hear this a lot.

I say, you're not your child's teacher. You are the guidance counselor. You're the leader. You're your your child's your your child's pastor. You're the parent.

All you're doing is leading the child to learning and the child is the learner and the child actually. So I call itself teaching because my daughter taught me this is you.

The child is teaching themselves. You can't teach anybody anything that they don't actually choose to learn. And we were all there in school teacher.
