but first, let's settle in together with the sound of the bells. D' Okay, so this is just going to be a short episode where I want to talk about

detachment and make a core distinction that often gets overlooked in consideration of detachment.

A lot of us perceive detachment as passive resignation, not caring, or just a total letting go where we're no

longer involved in what's going on in our life. But the distinction I want to make is that there's a difference

between detachment from process and detachment from outcome. When we're

detaching from outcome this is coming from a place of wisdom.

This is understanding that the actions that we do right now, the care that we put into this moment, we don't know what it will

turn into.

That's really not our business.

You could say that's God's business.

All we can do is take care of what's here. And so we're not detaching from the

process. We're very much engaged in the process, caring about the process, being with what is arising for us right now.

But it comes with an understanding that what ensues and the effect of the causal variable that we're working with in this moment is really out of our control.

And so as you consider a detachment in your own life and integrated into your practice, your mindfulness practice,
