| 1:05.0 | I use joyful vegan as my brand, as the title of my recent book, the joyful vegan, because I want to mirror back to people and hopefully attract them to what it looks like to live with awareness and purpose while still being hopeful and joyful. |
| 1:24.0 | But being a joyful vegan doesn't mean I'm just dancing in the daisies all day long, I don't know if I dance in daisies. Being a joyful vegan doesn't mean being happy all the time or living as some delusional polyanna who sees everything through rose-colored glasses. |
| 1:39.0 | So what does it mean to be a joyful vegan? I think it means acting with integrity and compassion behind closed doors and in public, online and in person with vegans and with non-vegans. I think it means choosing hope over despair. |

| 2:10.0 | I have hope because there's much to be hopeful about, it's just a matter of where you want to put your focus. |
| 2:17.0 | Finally, to me, being a joyful vegan means orienting to the world in an open, thoughtful way, where your eyes are wide open, yes, and your mind is wide open, yes, but so is your heart. |
